It’s not long ago that we were boasting about Sheffield, the happiest city in the UK. You can see our Sheffield Blog here. Hot on the heels, Yorkshire has been voted the best country in Europe to live by beating off competition from locations such as Paris, Rome, Barcelona and Florence.
The award was presented at the World Travel Awards, which has been described as the Oscars of the travel industry.
So why do we deserve such as prestigious award?
- We have great beaches such as ‘Filey Beach’. It has remarkable feedback and is voted best beach in Yorkshire as it is a really stretched out beach making enough space for everybody visiting. Also has lots of activities there, rocks to explore and is very clean.
- We have get-away-from-it-all breaks such as Cotterdale Beck where you can walk miles and hear the rivers and waterfall named Cotter force. It is a lovely secluded waterfall which is presented like steps before flowing off into a river.
- We have luxurious hotels, There are many hotels in Yorkshire, the ones we like are The Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, The Feversham Arms in York and The Devonshire Arms which is part of the Chatsworth Estate although based firmly in Yorkshire.
All of this and not to mention the business boosts to the economy through tour de france and the planned high speed rail. These features are some of the reasons Yorkshire brings in more than £7bn per annum just in tourism.
